(FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME) BUY BLACK

We see it time and time again, the movement for black lives sparking that broken record conversation of supporting our own and buying where you're less likely to be discriminated. "OUR DOLLAR IS SO POWERFUL" they say "LET'S BOYCOTT THIS & LET'S BUY MORE HERE"etc...

And while I believe in the concept, the intention itself speaks volumes..., we know our track record.

Somewhere between the boycott of Gucci and their controversial sweaters to a crying black celebrity vouching for them because "they ain't did nothing to us" just last week there has been a disconnect. Do we stick with these things once the hype has dissolved?

This isn't to condemn everyone on where they choose to get their products. To each his or her own. Staying strictly black owned can be difficult as some locations may be out of the way, some products may not fit exactly what you're looking for, and it's never by force. If you can't get to a black owned nail salon  and you're attached to your usual lady what are you going to do?

For what it's worth, I've collected a list of black owned businesses I could find. Feel free to shout out your businesses and your friend's businesses in the comments down below. Who knows their newest customer might be reading.
