QUICK BOOST | JOLLOF & FUFU EXPANSION PACK

[We Weren't Ready]

The following is a review/interview combo pertaining to Cards For All People's Black Card Revoked (wait for it) the card game. Brought to you by the word card studio audience. It will definitely be featured several times in my post today.

On Black Card Revoked (my opinion)
Anyone familiar with black twitter's #AskRachel? Welcome to the real life card game! Black Card Revoked is an extremely fun question and answer card game based on African American culture putting the phrase "black card revoked" to work. What's the better sitcom Fresh Prince, Cosby Show, or Martin? How about this... What's Mike Jones' phone number? Do you know?

Let's not get me started on this Jollof and Fufu expansion. The minute I got word I had to jump on it. A West African version?! That's me all through. Who's the best West African actress of all time? If you have an idea, answer in the comments below. Who do you think?

The terms of the game are pretty simple. You either get a "majority rules" opinion question or a strict question with definite answer card. The game plays up to six people but if you have more that can be accommodated. I've done it with more.

Grab your friends, snack, drinks, maybe some party music and sit in for a game day. Being candid in this moment that's the kind of party night I LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Would I recommend it? 100x over yes. If you can get it, do it.

On the Mini-Interview (ft answers from Cofounder, Latesha Williams)
For starters can I get some information on who started everything? Where he/she/they are all from? Background, ages, professions, school.
Our enterprise is a team and family effort, we form to make the most awesome Power Ranger MegaZord. I am a marketing consultant in addition to being the cofounder of Cards For All People. Before this, I was the Head of Business Development and Digital for LeBron James brokering deals with companies like State Farm, CocaCola, Carmax, Champs Sports and Viacom. Jay, my partner and fellow cofounder is a software developer and longtime serial entrepreneur.

How did this all start? Where did the idea for Black Card Revoked come from? And when?
Black Twitter. We had been toying with game ideas for a while but the hashtags that popped up around Rachel Dolezal brought it to the forefront. That moment and moments like it (eg. #cookoutnewsnetwork, #celebritiesonlyblackpeopleknow, #thanksgivingwithblackfamilies) brought a light to the shared experiences that every cultural group has. Black Card Revoked is the culmination of the Black Twitter illumination. What better way to completely disrupt Spades & Bid Whist?

What about the expansion packs? Jollof & Fufu specifically.... Who brought that idea and how did it come about?
Nostalgia and inside jokes are a big part of our appeal and those two things are strongest at the cultural level. Our customers expect us to create content that they connect with on a very visceral level. Jollof is a manifestation of that fact.

How important was it to your team to tie in that African perspective?
Our customers are extremely important to us and come from varied backgrounds. It was essential that we provide them with an authentic gaming experience.

What did you hope would come out of this entire brand?
And has anything so far popularity wise, production wise, etc... surprised you?
As a brand, we wanted to enlighten and inform people of various cultures using history, pop culture and social media in a fun way. We were surprised at how fast our games spread. We knew we had something but the continued support from customers has been astounding.

Are there any more expansions in the works? Can we have a look to the future?
We just released our expansion pack Black History in February. We are preparing for an April release of Nerd Card Revoked and we are gearing up for our Old School expansion pack early summer. We are also finishing up a limited edition top secret major pop culture icon dedicated expansion pack. We’ll be releasing a special Curry Goat expansion for our Caribbean family before end of the year. We are cooking up stuff daily in the lab, there’s more on the way.

Are there any extra words or messages you would like to get across via the blog?
[Just to] Keep God first. Don't make the same mistake twice. Save your money. Be consistent. Work with people you trust, and learn to work with those you can't. Buy our games ;)

Until next time from me,
